Tribute & Message From The Family

Connell, Dave Audry died August 9, 2014 at his home in Richardson, TX. He was born April 5, 1921, in Coushatta, Louisiana. He will be buried alongside his beloved wife, Katharine Moorman Connell, on Thursday, August 14, 2014 in Restland Memorial Park. The funeral service will be held at Restland Wildwood Chapel at 12:30 on August 14th. Dave, at 93, has had a long distinguished life. As a youth during the depression he worked in the WPA National Youth Program in Texas building park buildings, cabins, and other public works. In 1940 he joined the Navy as a career. He was a veteran of both World War II and the Korean War. He was serving on the USS Reid anchored in Pearl Harbor in 1941 when the Japanese attacked. He retired from the Navy in 1960 and moved to the Dallas area. He went to work for Kroger at their meat processing plant and spent almost 20 years with them before retiring. After "retiring" he became a rancher and breeder of Charolais cattle until the early 2000s when he sold his ranch and retired for real. He bought a house near Kemp and lived there until Katharine's death in 2005 after which he moved to the Richardson and Plano area. He is survived by his son, Dave K. Connell and his wife Julia Luo Connell, his grandchildren Sarah, Jeffrey, Charlotte, and Liz and his great grandson Jackson Bryant. He will be missed for his loving generosity and wonderful sense of humor.

Condolence & Memory Journal

Dave and I were friends from Sunday School class. Always enjoyed our conversations.
He was quiet and humble. Especially about his Pearl Harbor experiences. He will be missed. Calm winds and following seas my friend.
